Apple had a great idea with the magnetically attached power adapter. The great idea did not translate into the greatest design. They fray easily and corrupt the connection. Then you’re required to twist the connector until it can connect well enough to charge. This huge pain will end with Apples loss of a recent class action law suit.
The loss requires Apple to replace the MagSafe power cords or pay those that have had the problems. Apple hasn’t indicated which they will do. But, either way the owners of the faulty cords will get some relief now that Apple has been forced to acknowledge the problem.
Here’s Apple’s official wording on claims:
Strain Relief Damage means fraying, melting, straining, sparking, weakening, discoloration, bubbling, overheating and/or separation of the Adapter’s strain reliefs.
